I wanna put around 2K away for roughly 18 years, not to be touched at all. (for my god daughter)

Any suggestions as to where to get the best return?

mutual funds are probably your best bet. Specialising in East Asia or somewhere similar with big potential.

Best return will depend on how much risk you want to accept. For 18 years investment, bank accounts are generally not the place to be. Many would say based on past performance (no guarantee etc) that the stock market is the place to be, a mutual fund may be appropriate but fees will eat you up. If you want to go the stockmarket route you could look into something like an ISEQ ETF (but check out stockbrokers fees).

If you wanted to go high risk, there are say Rabo funds or some of the Quinn funds with relatively low fees. You might end up after 18 years with nothing.

EBS have some low fee funds also, and offer varied risk levels. If it was me, I'd probably put it into something like EBS's "growth" fund.

2 grand is an amount that can be killed by fixed fees, so be careful when choosing where to invest it.
