    Hey,

I'm 27, and have been playing guitar for 15 years, and am very competent. I am looking for a Folk Group to play guitar and sing with, around the Northside of Dublin. My influences are mainly Jazz, Blues, Metal & Rock, but I also like a lot of Dylan & Arlo Guthrie, etc, and would love the idea of singing and playing with a group of guitar players and singers with some nice harmonies!

    Anyone got any suggestions?

    Cheers!

    Hi there,

Maybe you'd be into doing something with me mate?

    http://paddysharkey123.bebo.com

You can check my stuff out at the address above, but it sounds like we're into the same kinda stuff.

let me know what you reckon anyway mate.

    cheers

    Paddy Sharkey

Had a listen - not bad, but not my cup of tea at all. Your stuff is kinda like Damien Rice, Mundy, Mick Kristopher, etc - I actually despise that 'middle of the road' generic singer/songwriter stuff - no offence. My wife listens to it all the time, and it drones on and on and makes my head want to explode!

I'm more interested in stuff like "A Man of Constant Sorrow" from 'O Brother, where art thou?', or the soundtrack from "A Mighty Wind"......a bit more bluegrassy, with sweet vocal harmonies, and a lot more major chords than your stuff! With having grown up listening to Metallica for years, I'm kinda sick of 'Em' and 'Am' at this stage!

No bother mate. I know what ye mean by the way. I like all kinds of music meself and used to be mad about Slayer, Metallica etc too. Also, I happen to like the few songs I've up there on Bebo although by no means are they representative of all the stuff I've written.

Well, not to worry. Best of luck with finding your band anyway mate.

    Slan go foil

where abouts on the Northside of Dublin? I too am quite competent on guitar and play me own stuff. Main vox ain't my thing but harmonies come naturally.
Send me a PM if you're interested. I'm up around Drogheda which shouldn't be too far from ya.

I guess what I'm after would be more Bluegrass, actually!

I'm in Baldoyle BTW, but I can travel.

OMG I thought I was the only one who despised that Fashionably unTrendy sh/te!!!!!!????????

Is it true, is there really another sane person with ears out there, who actually plays?

(Mr.Sharkey, the above is not directed at you my friend as I have not heard your music, and I wish you luck)

Fellow sane 6 stringer, you are on my level, I think a duo playing that sort of stuff would be great, bit of Trad n Vocals, bit of Country rock, bit of Bluegrass and potential for lots of money as it's cheap to run.

Ireland is not full of werewolf bearded, woolly hat wearing (sometimes RedHeaded, and appearing in well lit deconsicrated churches) POtPress fodder, dimwits strumming the tits off their guitars, and looking oh so angsty, after all?

My God the relief of it all is too much for me, I need a lie down.

BTW, 27 male also. Sounds good, sounds very good, so email me at foyler81@yahoo.com if you like

    thanks!
