WHAT a minor match yesterday! great game, contest and fantastic scores kicked by both teams right up til the last whistle!
hopefully the replay will be as free flowing+spirited.

i thought the rte coverage was poor though, can understand it being a curtain raiser for the final etc but from watchin a video lasnite you couldnt help notice the pundits picked out kerrys strong midfield at half time to highlight+never gave roscommon any credit for theyre comeback, obviously they had edited the tape for the kerry win after 20mins & couldnt be arsed changing it when ros pulled it back.

i also felt that they could have shown a bit more in the highlights package lasnite, especially when the senior was such a whitewash

Thought it was an excellent game too, Minor games can be scrapy sometimes but there was some excellent play from both teams and some of the scores were from the top drawer, pitty its the only time Roscommon will contend a final in Croke Park, they have some great supporters

Yes a truly excellent game. After the first 20 minutes i thought Kerry was going to win comprehensively. It was marvellous how Roscommon came back into the game. Some of the scores were fantastic from both sides.

Why do they get Michael O' Sé to the commentary.

I hate his Irish. Grates my brain.

THEY obviously have some sort of rule or tradition of broadcasting the minor finals as gaeilge, but i dont know why it has to be michael o se, tg4 commentators are a bit more entertaining/easier to ignore if you want to!

the replay is saturday @3 in ennis

Having Roscommon blood in me, I wanted them to win. The goalkeeper would never had forgiven himself if that last point that Kerry got was the winning one. Fortuantely Roscommon equalised. They are a good minor team. I hope they win on Saturday.

I enjoyed the minor game way more than the senior game. Far more competitive.

But as a Mayo man, a kick in the balls would've been more enjoyable than the senior game.

Maybe the game will be covered by a local radio station, if not on the Telly. Any suggestions ?

the game will defietly be broadcast live on shannonside radio, the local radio station for longford/roscommon/leitrim and surrounding areas

I'm sure radio Kerry will cover it too. They have a live feed from their website but do expect the commentary to be biased towards kerry. C'mon the Ros

Anyone know where I can listen to it from the UK?.

Well done to the Rossies, seems they were quite dominant in the last 10 minutes, racking up 5 points without reply to win by 4 points.

    brilliant stuff, well done Roscommon

pity we didn't beat them by more!

one of the greatest performances by a Roscommon team ever, in front of probably the biggest crowd from Roscommon at a match in 26 years, followed by one of the longest drives ever back to Roscommon, and one of the best nights out in Roscommon town ever.

heavy rain, thunder and lightning as the open topped double decker bus came up the main street at 12:30 last night, with 10,000 people there to see it. Unbelievable stuff!

what a day and what a night!!
feels great to hear roscommon being refered to as all ireland champions!
a heroic performance infront of all the fans that could have been there! in one way it was a pity we didnt win it in croker but in another way it was great we won it in a smaller venue,no hassle for tickets so loadsa familys went so even 3 and 4 yr olds can say for years they seen a roscommon team win!and no hassle going on to the pitch and sharing the happiness with your neighbours!
the drive back was long but the night in roscommon was longer!great atmosphere , a truely special experience and one that will be in my little book of memories that i will never forget.

on a seperate note i thought the support for kerry was shocking/bordering on disgraceful. them lads bust their gut all year for the cause and how many supporters turned up for the replay??700?? if it wasnt for the guys families who travelled to it it would be non existant! felt sorry for them

Not a Rossie, but I must say well done. An excellent game, crowd there were unbelieveable, I couldn't believe a minor match could attract so many people.Kerry support very poor.

But...were there so many Rossies there because Roscommon don't win a whole lot? When was the last senior all-Ireland win- 1946?Could this be the only all-Ireland title those lads win? :confused:

last senior 1944, last minor 1951. was great that both winning captains lived to see the day theyre county won again. hopefully it wont be as long again til we capture an all ireland.
the team got such good support because of a number of reasons, yes the county is starved of success, but they played with a disipline and style beyond they years and beyond many roscommon teams of the past. also the team had a wide spread of clubs represented on the panel and have produced many memorable games this season beating mayo, galway, tipp, meath and kerry. you could easily say they were in underdog in every game except tipp match(no dissrespect intended)

roscommon have always had strong support although admittantly i never witnessed anything like saturday.the fact the support was so one sided it reminded me of a home international soccer game but with more vibrant atmosphere.

i know kerry have had alot of success but considering the quality of the minor game last week and the fact the game was pay on the gate+reasonably close to home i expected more of a support for them. it was the same at the original final, a number of the kerry supporters that were beside me in croker didnt turn up til 5mins before end of minor game, although perhaps they could use distance to travel that morning as some sort of reason.

    WAAHHHHOOOOOO !!!!

    UP THE ROSSSIIEEEEEESSSSSS !!!!!!!

    Fantastic day in Ennis.
The crowd was magnificent. Read one paper report which claimed there was a 4 or 5 to 1 ratio of supporters in favour of Roscommon. What a load of crap !! There must have been 16 or 17 to 1 in our favour. The Kerry support was minute (my newt) although as always they were very gracious in defeat.

I honestly wasn't worried once Ros went 2 points up (I was in a small minority there) as I just couldn't see the momentum shift needed by Kerry to score twice or score a goal. The last 10 minutes (min its) was just relentless Roscommon pressure. The workrate and honesty and more than anything the DISCIPLINE was just a joy to behold. The only other Roscommon performance to compare in my memory was the 2001 first round defeat of Galway (seniors) in Tuam.

Thank you lads and most especially Thank You Big Fergie.
This team lost to Longford, Leitrim & Westmeath at U-16 level two years ago.
They got walloped by both Armagh & Laois (neither of whom made their respective Provincial finals) in challenges early in the year. To go from that to what we witnessed this summer is a coaching phenomenon.

    Thank you again and again.
