    Hi Duke,

Deadly stuff, I will see you in there.

How much is the package worth though.....Is it an EPT ticket alone or an EPT package?

Say its a ticket, a package isn't really needed for the Dublin EPT. But i'm just guessing so could be wrong.

I won - made a gutsy / mad / terrible call on Roundtower at the end to knock him out. I'm a gambler at heart I suppose and lady luck shined on me tonight. Saw A - A three times: twice against K - K to double me up and once against Dave Master's A - K to cripple him at the final table.

    Also had A - K river oscar's K - K to stay in the tourney.

To Roundtower I can only apologise - really thought that you were making a move on me as I am sure that I had a weak - tight image as far as you were concerned. Also I felt that all of my outs (20 by my count - actually 18 when you turned over ducks) were good if I was wrong and you did infact have a pair. You played great and I am sure that you will qualify for the event via some other avenue.

Never was my boards name more appropriate than tonight.....

    Well done Lloyd, great result.

You going to go or did you take the cash?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,502 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

I took €4000 cash - Alan from the SE took €2400. Dave was knocked out by me in third and I decided to do a deal rather than gambling heads up with a dangerous opponent on a €5100 // €1400 prize breakdown.

I am so close to a ticket price that I will look to make up the difference and play.

WP Lloyd. Who's Alan? What was the hand against RT? You'd think he'd have learned how to play the ducks properly at this stage :p

Alan is the quiet Asian Gentleman who almost exclusively plays cash games - he generally has a little stubble around his chin.

    Hand against RT:

    Blinds 2000 / 4000, three players left.

Button me: 110, 000 chips approx
    SB: Alan: 65,000 approx
BB: RT: 100,000 approx* not sure of exact chip counts

RT is running over the table since we got three handed - he did double up Alan on one hand, but he has raised 5 of the last seven hands, has been playing very aggressive all FT and has generally not had custom on his raises. I tried a steal on his blind early on in the final table and he called before eventually raising on a dangerous board. I have seen only junk since we went three handed and have been unable to call a raise. On two occasions at the FT I have made a play at a hand and eventually folded when my opponent played back. I have only showed down massive hands unless in a blind on blind battle where I checked it all the way to the river. I am fairly certain that I am looking weak - tight and will fold in a confrontation without close to a nut holding.

I am dealt a Red A and 5c on the button. I make it 14,000 to go. Alan folds, RT calls.

Board comes 3c4c8s. RT checks, I bet 20,000. He thinks for a short moment and calls. At this point I was thinking that he didn't have an awful lot but would move in if a scare card hit the turn. It was perfectly reasonable to assume that I had an overpair or two overcards to the board the way I was playing and also considering that I had Continuation betted the flop.

Turn is the 6c. As expected, RT moves all in. Pot is 70,000. His all in bet is 64,000.

I now have an up and down straight draw, a club draw and the strong feeling that at worst any paired 5 or A will also give me the pot. I believe that I have 20 outs to win if I am behind.

TBH I don't think I am behind however. I feel that he could simply have planned to bluff the draw heavy board and has two overcards himself. He might have called me on the flop because he hit a 3 or 4 - meaning that while I am behind I have a ton of outs to win.

Assuming I need one of 20 outs I am 2.3/1. The call is laying me 2.1. If I am drawing it is not an absolutely dreadful call - but it does have negative EV. However, my gut is telling me that my A might be good. Moreover, I think that I need to gamble against Dave because if we continue 2 or 3 handed I can't beat him. He will run over me and I will lose.

I come out of the tank and call - showing my hand. He examines the board and shows 2 - 2 (Nice hand Dave - wp). Leaving me 18 outs and 2.5 / 1 to hit.:( The river comes a lovely two giving me the low straight and knocking him out. What can I say? The wrong move at the right time..:o

WP Lloyd. I dont know if i'd have given Al that deal myself with that chip lead headsup. That's a seriously bad deal for you IMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,502 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

I was thinking that Ian but I have extremely limited heads up experience, was very tired and just didnt like the thoughts of doubling him up. Ultimately, I didn't trust myself to get rid of him and the difference between winning and losing was extremely significant.

€4000 for a €170 investment seemed good to me. But yes, I probably should have played on.

What time did it finish up at? The only reason I think it was a bad deal is that I think you would have a big edge hu against him, especially with a monster stack.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,502 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Well Ian, we finished at 2:30 - but I had just completed my third straight 11 hour day at work. I was tired. I do appreciate your comments - I did have a big chip lead but one double up and he would have been very competative. Moreover, I didn't believe that I had any real edge over him in skill.

What can I say - I bottled it like the big feathered chicken that I am. Can't worry about it though - whats done is done.

wp hope you make the rest up before the day. im sure the thing will sell out in the week leading up. you could always take the 4k and play like a mainiac in the supersat!

as for the deal, if your not comfortable playing on then your right to take the cash.

Hardly the worst deal in the world Ian.

Alan has a €2,250 expectation based on chips, giving him an extra €150 to fúck off doesn't seem extreme to me to lock up a tasty win. Bearing in mind this is probably the biggest win of Lloyd's poker career (based on your BR discussion elsewhere Lloyd and the games you play, not knocking you or anything) I don't think there is very much worng with this deal.

Either way WP Llyod and congrats. :) And good luck in the Irish EPT if you decide to buy in. (personally I'd be inclined to play Drogheda and a few other tasty medium big games coming up with that kind of cash but each to their own)

P.S. I wouldn't count a 5c as a definite flush out in the hand aginst RT. Tbh you could easily be in very bad shape here imho and with your stack I don't think I call here. The thing to do is push preflop I reckon but since I don't do enough of that myself these days I can sincerely say its easier said then done!! lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

I'd have done the same deal myself! Even more so after that amount of work. Plus I like Alan and I'd rather get home to bed than grind it out for another few hours hu.

Yes - biggest tourney score since I started playing 15 months ago.

Have to agree with that hand analysis Olly. It's not a good call. It's a mad call based on what my gut was telling me at the time.

llyod is the man so that really puts the 50euro i won in college into perspective. as for 5% jeff i think at some point that deal may be dead but he is entitled to my 5% of my 50euro might get him sumin on the eurosaver in mcdondalds.

    well done llyod love it

Nice one Lloyd, didn't know that was you. Good to see that someone off here won it anyway after RT got knocked out. About that call RT seemed to think it was an autocall for you with the pot odds you were getting, so I wouldn't feel too bad about it. In fact the only thing he said he was surprised about was how long you took to call! He is a fishy calling station luckbox though so I don't know how much it means if he thinks it's the correct play.

Congrats Lloyd, Would be nice to play in the EPT main event but it might be more fun to play the side event and then some of the end of month games and drogheda etc. I reckon it would help your game a lot more anyway.

    Thats my opinion anyway.
