Here's a question I've been wondering about. If you are undertaking the construction from scratch of a new pc, how do you get the free open source stuff on to it, if you don't have any software on it beforehand to access the web and download this stuff?

go into a net cafe and download an iso, or download an iso on a friends machine, or order a cd from somewhere or go to shipit.ubuntu.com and get a cd sent out to you for free, also there used to be a place near me that sold boxed red hat and suse so you could get it in a computer shop etc etc

You can also take a look in your local bookshop, on the front cover of most of those Linux mags are often full distributions of SuSE, Red Hat, Fedora Core, Ubuntu or Knoppix. Sometimes the DVDs have CD images for different distros that you just burn to a CD on a spare machine.

Or if you don't have a spare machine I can post you a copy of Ubuntu and a CD with other software such as OO.o, Gimp, FF, TB etc. PM me your address if you want me to send it on.
