Isn't this because somebody cracked Microsoft's DRM recently?

Yes. MS is working on a fix!

Also the Sky BB is a peer to peer, you are giving your own bandwidth to Sky to distribute the content EVEN when you are not downloading. It is VERY hard to uninstall it too.

The Sky website now provides instructions on how to remove the Kontiki application that is used by the SkyByBroadband service:

    no. nor in UK either

There are two Sky broadband related services:
Sky by Broadband: Premium / Skyworld customers can install horrid peer to peer sharing and download Sky content by whoever broadband connection you have, but the cheapskates use all the PCs downloading as the servers for upload so they don't have to pay for the traffic. It is nasty Sw to get rid of and it eats your broadband cap way beyond what you watch.

In UK Sky are also an ADSL broadband supplier and basic package is free to those who have Sky.

You CAN get two way satellite in Ireland, but it is for desparate people who can't get any other broadband, isn't supplied by Sky and won't work with Sky dish/lnb.
