Winding Hi-Cap Mags

Could someone explain this to me please? If i fill a hi-cap mag with a load of BB's, i need to wind it to wind some of the BB's up into the spring-loaded section, yes? So does that mean that if i load the mag using a speed loader (so im forcing 30 or so BB's directly into the spring-loaded section of the mag) then i don't need to do any winding?
And how much do i need to wind it? Because the manual (more of a leaflet) says 'wind the wheel until it feels tight' which is a little vague for me. Mine seems to need winding for about 3 mins straight before it gets to what i would call tight  This is hardly something you'd want to be doing after every 30 or so BB's, while in the middle of a skirmish!

well hi-cap mags usually hold more than 30 bbs so i really don't get what you're on about

A high-cap isnt to be loaded using a speed loader, speed loaders are for low-cap mags. Wind it until it clicks once is usually a good guide.

yea, i found this when i got my mp5 recently, it has a hi-cap mag, which seems like a great idea, but the winding really pissed me off

(oh and yea, wind until it clicks for me too)

Cheaper guns with lower quality springs and gears probably take a lot more winding than a Marui or a Star aswell.

I probably wasnt very clear, so ill try again :) The high-cap mag holds around 300 BB's, but if you fire fully-auto you will actually only fire around 30 or something (not sure exactly how many) before you need to wind the mag. This is because there seems to be a spring section running up the inside of the mag which is only 1BB wide, basically the same as a spring pistol mag. So when that is empty (of its 30 or so BB's) then you need to wind it, which pushes another 30 BB's from the big empty storage part of the mag, up into the thin spring section. This is just the way it seems to work to me anyway.

I'm guessing you mean cheaper Magazines. Yeah, i'm planning on buying a metal Mauri mag for it in a while.

just pushing bbs into the sping with a speed loader may seem as a good idea but it just creates clogs and that really really sucks so dont do it. Fill the mag using the little door or slide at the top, wind in the safe zone before going in. Wind for a while until it clicks. when using g3 high caps (borrowed because the electric winder one i had broke) i just wind until i hear a click any more and it could break. When this has happened (the click) i can spray about half the mag out (250/500 bbs) so either your not inding or the mag is broke or the bbs get clogged, give the mag a shake or hit it (lightly but firmly) off a tree and you should/might hear a whizzing sound. That is the spring going at warp speed inside the mag undoing the clog.

    hope i helped

Ah great, that helps alot. I still didnt get a voltage converter for my AEG yet so i have only used it for about 10 mins before the battery died. I'd imagine thats why it was only able to fire about 30 or so before it wouldnt shoot, combined with the fact that its a crap mag :)
    Thanks.
