How difficult is it to get into a gig when you're underage? I've a ticket for an over 18s gig in the <snip> soon, and I really need to get in. I'm 16. Any advice appreciated.

Your ****ed. I remember alot of underage people denied access to see Slayer. They are real strict, unless your tall. If you're tall, they don't ask. Anything under 6 foot, and you've no hope.

I'm tall-ish. Thanks to those who actually gave a proper and useful response!

    No problem OP.

There are reasons why children cannot attend gigs and yes that is what you are in the eyes of the law, a child .When you are an adult you may understand them - do you really want people to give you advice on how to break the law and potentially result in the premises losing its license, or not having insurance cover when some 16 year old has to be pumped out and mammy sues.

On a personal note I hate seeing children at a gig they ruin the atmosphere and I feel there are places for kids and places for adults and the twain sould never meet.

I noticed you said you are tall-ish, well just make sure you point that out to the security when they ask you for ID and I am sure they will let you head on in.

Come back in two years time when you are all grown up.

Although it depends on the band, if the majority of the crowd are there for a band are underage they normally will let the lot in.

i recall back in my day it was no bother. especially since i had facial hair (tip). but these days it's very strict simply because it costs an arm and several hundred legs for insurance, so they don't want to take the risk.

if you look over 18 fine, waddle in like it's nothing. otherwise, don't get roudy if/when you're turned away.

Frankly Im amazed kids can afford gigs in between their cocaine habits (source: Irish press). Yeh the world is out to get you and it sucks when you are underage but you shall delight in tormenting the unfortunate on your 18 birthday and the cycle continues.

kingoftherodeo, banned for a week for violating Sticky.

muletide, first offence for personal abuse.

As for the thread topic, I think this will be the last of these types of threads we'll see on here for the while, however:
