Can you post up specifics of the course - i.e. what exactly it entails. What you have described is very generic.

The certification is appropriate for individuals who derive physical database designs, develop logical data models, create physical databases, configure and manage security, monitor and optimise databases and install and configure SQL Server.
By earning this degree, students are demonstrating that they have the skills necessary to lead organisations in the successful design, implementation, and administration of databases.

    Ok, first things first.

It is impossible to say how hard/easy the course is, because that is down to the indivudual. Do you have any interest in databases? If not, download Oracle 10g express edition, SQL server Express edition or MySQL and see what you think. These are fully fledged databases that are used in the real world. Get a database up and running, hook it up to a web site (you can do all this on one PC, btw).

Do you know what database the course uses? If it is Microsoft Access, run a mile. Ok, I am biased, but I don't consider Access worthy of inclusion in a course such as this.

That couse seems to cover all bases, but I would ask what is the qualification at the end of it? Is it an ordinary level degree? Or is it some other qualification? If there is a "proper" qualification at the end of it, I would say go for it.

Data warehousing and database administration are good areas to get into, they are very specialised areas with good demand for people with those skills.

Its an ordinary Degree with a one year add on,I done a similar course in that college and when we done databases in 2nd year we started out on Access for the first couple months then onto SQL Server 7.0 for stuff like transactions etc . The lecturer of course was very scathing of access

    Good, good, good. :D

No, seriously, Access has it's merits in certain situations. It does not belong in an academic environment, though.
