Not necessarily. Depends on who you are going to get your broadband for and you can hook it up through a router if you like instead of having to pay for the wireless card.

As kensutz said it depends. Most broadband providers are providing wirless routers with their broadbanb. Not sure about the Wireless broadband providers. I know i had to get a wireless router to connect to my modem (im with digiweb). I have 2 xboxs, 1 is hooked up using the wireless adaptor (its in my living room and couldn't run a cable) the other is connected via network cable (its sitting beside the router).

So it all depends on the equipment you get and its location compared to your modem/router

I had my xobx connected via network cable to my laptop which connected to the router downstairs wirelessly (using a wireless pcmia card).

So I had to have the laptop on if I wanted to connect to live. Not as easy as a wireless adaptor.

But saved me a hundred quid.

Do explain. I've got my laptop on connected to a wlan pretty much all the time next to me when i'm playing the 360. What exactly do I need to use the laptop to get the 360 onto the wireless network? Can I just connect the laptop to the 360 with an ethernet cable?

Edit: Ok got it working, just had to click allow other computers to access the internet through this computer in the wlan settings. Can't sign in to live but it passed all the network tests, and I can't sign into myxbox on xbox.com because it says the servers are down so I'm assuming this will work fine.

Ok the laptop won't work for me. Like I said it passes all the tests but when it gets to xbox live it says failed. It works when I hook the 360 up to my router. What do I need to do to get it to work?

    Have you disabled your firewall?

Cheers, just got this working. Sure beats giving microsoft €90 for a wireless network adapter. Daylight robbery.
