If I buy a MacBook, could I use the iLife '06 software disk that comes with it to upgrade my iLife '05 on my desktop?

Sure, I can't see any reason why not.

Cool. I thought maybe the software could only be installed on one machine.
It's universal as well so it should be ok on my PowerPC based machine

    Thanks

You'll be breaking the law, but it can be done. Not that I've done it, but what you do is copy iPhoto, etc, over to the other computer (via file sharing). They'll work just like that.

yeah i'm pretty certain apple don't limit you to the one machine. Unless this has changed with the new intel macs. But even if they don't install you could simply use Pacifist to extract the apps or transfer over as Urban Weigl suggests.

Or just use the install discs that come with your macbook.

You are only licenced to use the software on your macbook but technically there is nothing stopping you from doing this.
