    Hey NTL

I am hoping to have 100 residential and 60 non-residential players. I have reserved and paid deposit for 25 houses. Each house has two double rooms and one twin room. There will be four people per house.

All the VN tournies from now untill then will have a non-residential ticket included in first prize. In addition to that there will be at least one STT for a residential ticket during each VN tourny night.

This will result in a total of 55 residential and 55 non-residential tickets gone.

Other than that, if you want to buy a residential or non-residential ticket I have them printed and they are available for sale during all VN tournies.

The white house is on next weds so you might win a ticket there either in tourny or STT if you are able to make it.

Wp Nick, thats a great package.

I'm up for this, but I'll have to book it provisionally as you never know whats on the weekend before Xmas with parties and work etc.

So count me and let me know how to book it. Is that price per a person per room or per person sharing.

    Ignore, you've already answer that.

Is those house part of the resort or seperate?

Most two-day events consist of poker running into the early hours of the morning. This tourny will finnish at 8:30pm on Saturday night giving people 30mins to go to their holiday home for a shower and change before 9pm dinner. After dinner there is a coach bringing everyone down to the local pub for the night and I have enterainment organised in the pub. The tourny won't recomence until 2pm on Sunday giving people a chance to recover from what will be a great night out. You will have full use of the swimming pool, steam room etc. which should help recovery.

Avon Rí is a top class corporate resort. It opened in March of this year and ireally is a unique venue. Visit their website and it will give you a good idea of the standard there.

The houses are in the resort (visit the website for full details www.avonri.com That price is based on four people per house. There are three rooms so each two get a room each and two share a twin room. I'm asuming people who know eachother will organise themselves in groups of four.

    This looks fantastic Nick.

Self deal shouldnt be a problem as i'd say there would be a couple of competent dealers at each table.
Hopefully some of the other students will have enough funds to play for the weekend.

By 'Double Chance', do you mean 1 option to rebuy/top-up. Apologies but my poker terminology / experience is pretty limited.

It means you will get your second allotment of chips for no extra cost.
I cant say i see much point in the double chance concept myself other than more work for the floor staff running about sorting people out but shur they're suckers for punishment. You can ask for your second allotment of chips any time after the first hand up to and including the break. So its the same thing as a freezeout except you get your total chips in 2 half's.

This is a good idea and seems like you have put a lot of work into it,my only concern is its so close to Christmas.

I hav sold 110 tickets for this and need to reserve another 20 for winners of VN games between now and the game.

The venue can only hold 180 so that only leaves 50 tickets left and they are going fairly quickly. If anyone here intends playing this please let me know so I can arrange a ticket for you.

Got back from this event last night, Congrats Nick on an EXTREMELY well run poker tournament with a structure that gave plenty of play. The venue was top class, the poker room was excellent and the bungalows were top class standard. I was very impressed. The only blemish on what was a perfect weekend of poker was the food, something i'm sure Nick will fix for his next event.

As for my tournament, I can't remember too much hand detail but heres a report anyway. (i just read back over it its a bit long!)

With a starting stack of 10k and a 45 minute clock it gave plenty of play, 146 entries made for a big field. My starting table was pretty standard with just one player on it I wanted to avoid getting involved with. I steadily built my stack up to 16k by the first break then 5 hands after the break I took a hit for half my stack, a small button raise into my bb and i call with KJo, flop arrives KJx with two spades I bet the pot and call a raise, turn brings a 3rd spade and I check call a bet then a 4th spade hit on the river to give my oppenent the pot, he had Js9x. So I get back to work and build my stack up to 25k with no allins or major hands just good steady play then i get moved table. Around 30minutes into this table I finally find a big hand, KK. Its folded to me and I raise one off the button to 3xBB, I find a caller in the sb and we see a rainbow flop 10 high, then the sb pushes all in for 10k....hhhhmmm I call and she flips over 1010.
I started to get more active after that hand and built up to 38k to finish the day.

We all went out that night to the local boozer and ended up back in the bungalows partying till 6.30 so day 2 started off a bit rough:p . I don't remember much of the first few levels of day 2 (not surprisingly) and then I get moved table, we're down to 4 tables at this point and I have a little under 60k and find QQ on the button, the blinds I think were at 1000/2000 with a 300 ante at this stage and the guy to my right raises to 9000, i pop it up to 25k the blinds fold and he calls allin for his remaining 25k and flips over KK no miracle queen and im down but not out. over the next hour the only hands of note were I win a race against the chip leader (99 v AQ) and then knock a guy out in another race.

We're down to two tables now and in the money, top 16 paid and 15 left with the blinds at 2000/4000 and a 500ante rounds are costing 9500 a go on my table. I'm in the bb with 63k and its anounced the blinds are now going up to 3k/6k 500ante, theres one caller and I consider a push with K9o but decide to see a flop, the flop comes down K66 and I check raise allin to my foes bet, he called pretty quickly and i knew I was in trouble, he turns over A6 and thats all she wrote. I think I probably should have given myself a chance to get away from it on the turn but with the blind announcement i probably panicked a little and pushed. Although 63k was short there was only one big stack on my table with over 2/300k and the rest had 50-100k so I think i probably could have put my chips in a better spot. Overall I'm happy with how I played I wasn't allin in danger of being knocked out until the final two tables and none of my big hands stood up in the two days of play so to make the money albeit small was good.

Thanks Nick and best of luck in your future events, I for one would have no hesitation in going to another of your events.

    Shay

ps I didnt meet any boardsters down there so I'm not sure if anyone else went?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 418 ✭✭lethal dose

I was there too Shay, what table did you start on? I went out just at the end of day one on the button I picked up AA and made 1200 to go with blinds 150/300 and 25 ante. SB flat calls rainbow flop 426 he pushes all in and had me covered I only had 5800 left and put him on JJ/QQ so I called he had pocket fours! The day went pretty much like that for me.

Have to say well done to Nick and the VegasNights crew for what was a really great event and well structured. Top venue also. Can't wait for the next one!:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 516 ✭✭✭shaydy

I started on table 12, tough break with AA. I haven't seen so many over pairs outdrawn, on day 2 at the second table I was at there were 5 big pairs beat by under pairs or Ax in a row
