    Hi Guys,

I'm interested in starting a career in Sales. I was wondering what is the best way to get into the job.

    Does it matter what field?

Are there different types of sales careers? I have always been interested in sales and I'd like the challenge of getting the sale and overcome fears of rejection.

Which company would be best to join while starting out?

    Best way to get trained?

    All help greatly appretiated :)

    ok, a couple of questions.

what do you mean by sales?

guy at a counter in pc world, key account management, distribution sales, high power like in the filims type sales?

and do you know the difference between the types of sales, or do you have an idea of what your ultimate role would look like?

really, i dont think you can get any sensible or specific answers until you tell us what exactly you are thinking of.

perhaps if you have an idea of what you want to do then put it up and i will see if i can give you something sensible from that?

Well to learn to sell, i think you can sell anything from that point?

Sales, would not be retail sales.

Learning cold calling, business development, lead generation, negotiation, tailoring a solution for a client, requirements gathering etc.

I might be interested in car sales, IT sales, selling tiles, i'm not really sure.

Is there a good 'base' to get started from and see where i might like to go from there?

ok, so are you looking at account management or ar eyou looking at sitting at a desk and making lots of cold calls?

im guessin from what youre saying you are looking at the 'drive around in a bmw, take people for expensive lunches' type sales.

and then there are 'rep' type sales roles.

when it comes to getting into sales, there are loads of different ways, depending on what type of role you are looking at and what type of experience. i got into sales through a technical role as a pre sales guy, and then went into account management.

i do all the stuff you mentioned above (except drive the bmw :))

if you want some more details, drop me a pm and i will be happy to chat to you about it.
