I have an almost 2 year old Iriver H140, and after a good bit of use over that period, I think it needs a new battery. I see on eBay you can pick up new batteries fairly handy. Has anyone who has one replaced the battery, and were there any issues opening her up?

www.misticriver.net should help. It shouldnt be too much bother if you have ever tricked around with a PC. I am surprised the battery is gone though, they use lithium polymers which should last a good 10 years. Mine is about the same age with daily use and is still fine.

Check to see if you can get a higher power one now (higher mAh rating). You can get great li-polymer batteries for 1st gen ipods now, the original batteries were really big so now you can sqeeze a lot into the same space.

IVe seen them online ages ago, cae with the tools and guide on how to open it.

As above check mistic river and look for a higher mA one (just make sure its not to big and fits the player)

Thanks for the replies, folks. Its not gone completely, just charging is a little bit more frequent (using for 2/3 hrs per day going to/from work, charging every 2/3 days)

Does anyone know of another resource for the iRiver Battery replacement ?
The Misticriver Forums seems to be down.

Maybe someone has it saved ?

I'll be replacing both the Battery & Hardrive on my h140 & would like the Instructions. I've replaced the battery before, but the polarity was wrong :(
