help please! don't know if this is the right foruym so mods feel free to move it!
basically our washing machine is banjaxed- it starts the wash, fills up with water, then doesn't drain, it stops before the spin cycle. have tried manually draining the machine at the little box on the bottom right hand side however this just fills up again when a new cycle starts. any ideas what the problem is? (today i fished 5 nails and a euro out of the drain thing at the bottom but can't seem to find anything else blocking it)

how old is it, the clock could be gone,

when u say it stops before the spin, does it pumop out at all or only before the spin, ie does it rinse the clothes.

if it is doing the rinse, then the pump is working, if not maybe the pump is gone, as opposed to the clock

Im far from an expert on these things but I recall having a similar problem a couple of years back when the machine just refused to spin and it was a motor that had worn out.

Got it replaced free at the time as it was under an extended warranty but it still cost €68 for the call out.

Compare that to a couple of weeks ago when the pump went and I got a private guy out who runs his own business and charged €50 for call out and replacing the pump. Sorry, thats a bit off topic but had to be said

I've seen this on two machines and in both cases dirt was blocking the drain pipe, There should be access to the drain pump from the front of the machine for clearing blockages.

Check the simple things first,eg, If you have seperate cold and hot water supply to machine ( and not a "y" using only cold to both inlets) and if you turn off the cold supply the machine will run normally 'till the rinse cycle when if "freezes" . It won't use hot water to rinse. turn on the cold and away it runs continuing the wash.
When machine stops manually advance the programmer(clock) one click at at time, after empting machine and see if it carries on...controller fault indicated
Allow machine to partially fill with water ( no clothes)and advance the programmer one click at a time and listen to see if pump engages at any point during the cycle. This will check the pump operation. If you hear the pump start and no water is emptied, check for obstruction ai outlet or at pump or pump filter.
This should narrow the fault down. The simplest way to empty water out of machine is not to use the "little box", bit simply lower the outlet hose below the drum and drain into bucket. When bucket full raise hose high to stop flow

Had the same problem, but in my case the blockage was at the connection between the drain pipe and under the sink. I just disconnected the pipe and used a paper clip to pull out the gunk.
