Install the intel chipset drivers first. Then it will detect the sound card properly.

Also look up the PC on the dell site.

Thats one of the great things about Dell they have outstanding PC support when it comes to drivers on the site without having to wait in line on the phone

Depending on the kind of audio chip it uses you also need to install the Microsoft HD audio driver before installing the sound chip driver if it adheres to the integrated Azilla HD audio spec.

Microsoft don't host the bloody thing on their website publicly so you have to get it elsewhere.

Had the same problem after reinstalling windows on a 5150.
The driver disk provided with the machine did not have a setup file in the audio_driver folder. Tried pointing the device manager at the folder and updating the driver, but it couldn't find the correct driver.

So I went to the Dell website and downloaded the 5150 driver from there. After unzipping the file I was surprised to see a setup file in the folder. Double clicked setup and in a few minutes the sound was working perfectly!
