SKY+ receiver capacity

I got SKY+ installed this week and the installer put in a PACE 3100 receiver which has a 40GB hard drive giving about 20 hours recording capacity. I had expected a higher capacity receiver and when I checked the web I saw that there is a newer model with a 80GB drive available. I called SKY and they said that the receiver model depends on stocks - I'm not sure if they are covering themselves with this type of response and I'm thinking that I might have been done. Is the 3100 an old box now and should I have got the newer version?

yeah i got shafted in the same way- stoopid sky.
i read a HOWTO somewhere about fitting a regular IDE hard drive into your skybox to expand it but i've now idea how easy/hard this is

Its relatively easy but they really should have given you an 80gb box

Thanks Thom and Tony, I'm seriously pissed with this now. I pulled the box from the bin and it has an 80GB label but the serial number doesn't match the receiver. Is there any way to tell the size of disk from the receiver?

I thought the two sizes are 80G and 160G.

Non- Sky PVRs are shipping 200G to 400G and 750G is getting mentioned.
A few other box are as small as 80G.

A 200G drive retail is under 100 Euro. No idea how compatible. Fitting is easy if the drive is suitable.

Does anyone know if the PACE 3100 only has a 40GB disk or do recent versions have 80GB? How can I tell without opening it up?
