Randomly fun. You manage to make a fool of yourself in completely different ways. Well, that is unless you're actually somewhat of a good ballroom dancer (though most people just give it a lash for the craic).

I believe there are (at least) two different Strauss Balls on: One normally organised by Law Soc and other societies, with another one organised by Dance Soc usually with the SU supporting. The first one is usually before Christmas, with the other one after (I think, but I'm probably wrong).

Oh, and I think it costs around €12 or so. All subject to change.

Ok, stupid question: What do you wear? Must it be a proper ball gown, or just a formal dress?

Formal wear is what it said on the ticket last year, take from that what you will!

Apparently the Strauss Ball used to be on before something as in the same day and it started at like 10 or something. That would be class if it was brought back, I do wonder who it was taken away? This was some time ago though, my sister told me about it. She went to TCD about 10years ago.....

I went to the dance soc strauss ball last year. Great night and Rory Traynor (? i think) put a fair bit of work into it.

my only thing i want to do this year is sort out my own mask properly. last year borrowed a friends - this year it will be my own design :)

Is it only boys who have masks (couldn't see a girl with one in the pictures)?

Its both, really. only thing is most of the girls put most of their time into their dresses :P

This is one thing I never went to last year, I'll be going this year though!

Meh, a lot of the people who go are unbearably pretentious. Can think of loads of better ways to spend an evening.

I had a good time. Clare Brady made me buy a ticket but it was a laugh. I'm gonna learn to dance though for this year's Strauss.

That Clare Brady has a habit of getting people to do things they normally wouldn't..... I just know she's going to make me go to the Strauss Ball this year though. Sigh. At least I have an excuse to not go to Dance Soc. No dance partner!

The Strauss Ball is supposed to be a great night out. Full of the whimsy, music, dresses and um...Did I mention there was whimsy? Dancing is highly over-rated. At least, that's what I tell myself. ;)

In a strange post-Friday the 13th twist, after I installed the new iTunes today I had the option of browsing Clare Brady's shared music. I don't know Clare Brady, but the laptop is second-hand.

There are signs up all over the college for the strauss ball- most prominently in the arts block.

    I believe it's on the 22nd. (nov)

Yeah, people who listen to music they enjoy, rather than what trendy magazines tell them to.

(Had to throw it in there, the downstairs Razorlight is in full swing and making me irritable..)

I wanted to demand my money back for "Two For The Money". But alas, I'm ever-so-slightly prohibited from attending.
