Anyone have experience with hooking up an ipod or Laptop to an Amp or PA system?

The system could be an instrumental bands system or a hotel function room PA system.

I was at a concert last year in the point at which they were using an iPod to play the general music before the main peformance started. Worked pretty well from what I could here.

Hi. I am interested if anybody has experience with this?
Only difference is i am talking about a creative vision connected to a pubs sounds system.
Only output on it is a normal headphones jack and i dont know what the sound quality will be like.

Friend hooked up numerous ipods to her bros speakers for his band - no problem at all sound quality was fine - not fantastic by any means but more than adequate for general needs.

Yep. There is no problem in using anything like that through a PA as long as you have the connectors. The best way is to get someone (yourself) to make a lead comprising a stereo minijack going to 2 male XLR connectors. Another option depending on teh desk/system would be stereo minijack to male phono connectors and you can get convertors easily enough to change the phono connections to quarter inch jacks for line inputs. I have used my Zen Vision M to check PAs in Germany and Switzerland on outdoor gigs supporting Bryan Adams and have had no problem. I use it over here a lot for teh same purpose too aswell as playing intro music for bands. Just make sure that the music has been ripped at a decent bitrate if you are using it for anything important.

    Cheers folks,
Unfortunately I never got to try, the premises wouldn't allow the music after hours.
Anyway thanks for the help i'm sure it'll be useful in the future.

    Cheers,
    LP
