HP Proliant servers & iLO on the serial port

We've got a few Proliant's out there that have gone wonky on us. We have serial modems for remote access plugged into the back of the servers, which when we dial in gives us a linux command line. All the servers have fedora core on them.

Some of the servers have taken to routing the iLO onto the serial port, thereby killing our access to command line. We cant seem to turn this off and restore command line access, all we ever get is an iLO login. HP tech support refuse to believe that such an issue exists and are calling it a software problem, despite the fact that the exact same thing has happened to at least half a dozen servers at this stage. I've been going down the painful route of getting motherboards replaced in the servers, as it's all that HP will do for me.

    Anyone got any bright ideas?

Anything in the BIOS that is changed? I know Dell servers can reroute the main display or the ERA to a serial port, but I'm not sure about ProLiants. Dells use a BIOS setting to reroute IIRC.

nothing would have changed in the bios. Following some googling and such, there is a process in there that monitors data coming through the serial port. If that detects a certain keystroke or string of characters it'll do exactly whats happened; switch the physical serial port to iLO. I'm going to try flashing the bios tomorrow to see if it'll reset it to the way it was.
