I used to watch Third Watch all the time. Great show.

Anyone know of any other similiar shows that are on at the moment, or were on in the past?

Rescue Me. Also about firemen, but with a great mix of humour and drama.

The major aspect of the show that I liked was the NYPD... the gunfights, the chases, the major incidences ...

While the FDNY aspect of it was dam good too, the ads I've seen for Rescue Me lead me to believe it's leaning toward more of a soap or something ...

Third Watch was one of my favourite tv shows ever, brilliant stuff!

there hasnt been another tv show to match the style of it(at least to my knowledge).

but did you know the first season has finally come out on dvd ?

Thanks herobear for DVD info... but I've rewatched it about a billion times over the last 2 years, and have access to it. :)

Unfortunitly, while it's a great show and you can rewatch many episodes over and over, it's just not a fresh episode each time :(

i sorta get confused between rescue me and the other thing he did, the job...

i know its created by the same people and there no harm in having the actors in it, the girl firefighter.. but he seems to play the same charractor always going on about popping pills or something?

Third Watch was great, pity I got into it so late and hate to watch most of it on repeats.

Not sure there is anything like it at the moment.

Third Watch started out with a mix of police, paramedic and firefighter storylines. They completely dropped the firefighters towards the end and it became mostly a police show.

It also got far to overblown in the last few seasons with uber-criminals, massive bodycounts and major traumas for all the leading characters every other week.

This is a reply I got from FX in June about Third Watch.

The good news is that FX has secured the rights to seasons 4-6 of Third Watch. However the not so good news is that they do not come into license until 2007. With this in mind we will not be able to air further seasons until the New Year. This is due to the distributors terms and conditions and is not something we can change. Until then we will continue to repeat seasons 1-3. But rest assured there are more seasons to come including the UK Premiere of season 6. We have currently stopped the Uncut airing at 23:00 as we are in repeats of the show, but the uncut slot will return with the three new seasons next year.

More 4 will be showing series 12 of NYPD blue whenever they get around to it

Check out this for furture details.

I love cop shows especially those based in NY, for some reason. We do have Law & Order but it's not as in-depth into the lives of the characters. Third Watch was my favourite.

Rescue me and The Job are brillant.

Its a pity they only made one season of the Job but since Leary & his buddy created both Resuce Me & The Job its no surprice you have the same people in both shows and the same charactors.

I want a big screen re make of The Job!

The last season was possibly the best. Every episode involding a "10-13" was awsome too.
