Warning About Pixmania

    Hi,

This is my first post on Boards.ie, but it is something that is annoying me intensely and I would like to warn other users so that they don't fall into the same trap as me.

Back in January I bought a Nokia N70 from Pixmania.com costing me 524 euro. Along with the phone I purchased the Zen Engagement cover for about 40 euro so that my product would be covered if it ever went wrong. To quote Pixmania's site "recover the full cost of your product if it develops a fault within the first year of ownership".

Anyway, in May the phone wouldn't ring for incoming calls so I decided to return it to Pixmania for my "Zen Code" to purchase another item from their site. It's been 3 months now and I still haven't been given this code. I sent the phone back in June, they repaired and returned it to me (which i didn't ask them to do!!!). I told them I wanted to claim under the Zen Engagement cover, so they said to refuse delivery when the parcel arrived, and it would be returned to them. About a month later, and they said they hadn't received the phone back (eventhough I tracked it from the transport company's website and it said it had reached them!). They said that an investigation had been launched into the whereabouts of the phone and they'd contact me when they had an update.

Today, the phone has arrived back at my house, and unfortunately I wasn't here and it was signed for by my father!!! So now I have to send it back to them again.

As soon as this mess has been sorted out I won't be doing business with Pixmania again. If any of you are, I advise you not to purchase the Zen Engagement cover.

    Regards

    Philip:(

Is the phone working fully now, after repair?

My friend is in a similar boat with a Hard drive camcorder he bought....dragging on for months now...desperate company baiting people with cheaper prices...

It doesn't really matter if the phone is working or not. The OP paid extra for a no hassle refund/exchange guarantee, in the event of a fault. He has not received the service he paid extra for. Hence his argument.

That's my point exactly.....I suppose it's the same with the high street stores...they bump up their prices with inflated cover plans. I had a similar problem with Dixon's years ago....they're very reluctant to honour the agreement.

I'm not sure whether it worked or not to be honest. I never opened the parcel because if I did, they'd probably insist on another 6 six weeks to inspect it, and they'd probably go and repair the bloody thing again!!

And when it's an internet company you're dealing with it's even more frustrating....you can't pull the guy by the scruff across the counter!! :D

I've sent it off again today, so fingers crossed. I'll keep you all updated on what happens....if I can steer at least one customer away from the dreaded Zen Engagement agreement (or maybe even Pixmania!), I'll get some satisfaction out of this mess!

I too found Pixmania very fustrating to deal with. I tried to call their customer service and was cut off each time. I eventually called the sales line (answered in 30 seconds) and they said that when the customer service lines get too busy they just cut off the lines waiting, and that I stand more or a chance getting through in the afternoon. I am using expansys.ie now a little more expensive but great to deal with in my expieriance.

Cheers for that....I'll bear that in mind next time I'm buying some gadgetry. The thing is I spend a lot of money on that kind of stuff so Pixmania have just shot themselves in the foot by offering a shoddy service. Not only am I probably not going to buy from them again (after I've redeemed my voucher when I eventually get it!), but I'll be advising other people not to too.

Aswell as that, there prices are always coming down so I'll be able to get more for my money when I do redeem the voucher!

It's very annoying when companies speed answer the sales phone and let the aftersales people wait an eternity!!

I find it amusing someone mentioned Dixons above.

DSG International bought PixMania about 3 months ago.

DSG own Dixons/Currys/PC World/The Link etc etc

Iv dealt with pixmania on a number of occasions. Each time iv had to return something,i cant fault them. Super quick, friendly and easy to deal with. For every bad experience theres another good one.

PC World also seem to be useless idiots

I was looking at buying a printer. I eventually got the attention & asked him a question about the Printer I was interested in. He told me that they do not & never have stocked that Printer. I asked him if he was sure of that. He told me he was absolutely certain. I asked him again & he was completely sure. So then I asked him what the stack of Printers were 10 feet away from him, he looked & sure enough they were the Printers I was asking about. (Doh!)

So then I asked my question of this IT & Printer expert. He did not know but made up some BS that was false. Then I asked if the PC World's offer of beating the price was to be believed. He said it was, so I then asked why the Printer was 'On Special' at €49 more than the Recommended Price on the Manufacturers Website. He told me to go to the Service Desk.

I went to the Service Desk & asked again, but he had to refer to the Manager. The Manager was too busy to see me but passed back the message that he would not match the price as it was on the Internet. WTF? This was the HP Website .... naming PC World as one of their agents & giving a Price .... but PC World would not match it. So much for their claims. So much for their Customer Service. WOFTAM

....that crap before from highstreet shops...I bought a camera in Jessops a few months ago, and asked if they'd match a Pixmania price and they said no, eventhough they're meant to match prices...but in fairness to them, apart from that I found them very good....I returned an earlier camera a few weeks after using it and they gave me an exchange straight away....

That's an interesting one about Dixons and Pixmania being owned by the same company....I didn't know that...that might explain the dodgy service.

Regarding Pixmania: I never actually opt for the Zen Engagment. I only budget for the price incl. shipping so i dont have enough for that part. Iv bought about 5 things from there only, but they are all working perfectly, the service(delivery) is excellent and cant complain about anything. Lets hope something doesnt go wrong then
