Hi, I'm going to be in budapest next week and I was wondering if anyone here knew anything about it? How's it for sightseeing/shopping/eating? Any help would be great!

Was there last summer and had a great time.Possibly one of the most beautiful cities I was ever in.There is so much to see and do.The people are very friendly.

Sightseeing wise the must do things would be all around Buda, the old part of the city. Its up on the hill so the views around the city is great but food is very pricey up there.Take a boat tour up the river at night. The Statue park about an hour outside of town is a great tour to take. All the Communist statues from the city are out here and is very impressive. The terror museum is also very interesting. Its an old building which was the HQ for the Hungarian Nazi's.

The food selection is great and you will have no problem finding something to suit your tastes. One place you should try is Sir Lancelot's.Its a medieval themed restaurant and the food is so impressive and its a really cool looking place too.Cant remember the street its on but when you arrive in Budapest pick up a restaurant and tour guide in the airport at the information desk I think. This has all the information you will need.

Enjoy your time there.Hope to go back there real soon myself.

Ok one word of warning was there last year and the TAXI drivers are scamsters agree a price before going anywhere with them I got screwed for around 20 euros for a 10 min journey but there is nothing you can do after the fact.
Also make sure you validate your train ticket on the metro got done for this as well 8 euro fine even though I bought a ticket just forgot to validate.

I also got fined for a tenner actually, ticket machine was broken so couldn't actually get a ticket.

I got a taxi from the city centre (across the road from Nyugati Train Station) to the airport and it cost me €35! Funny, because on the same journey from the airport it was only €15  Robbing bastards!

Anyway Budapest is a lovely city, the women are stunning too btw  The highlights for me were Buda Castle and Heroes Sqare (which is in the Pest side of the city). Plus if you have time you should go for a bath in one of the many bath houses around the city. It is not as gay as it sounds :D lol. Enjoy it!

When you're in buda try checking out the tunnels..from what i remember the entrance doesnt exactly jump out at ye, so ye may have to look around but theres lots of fun down there. Also try taking the old school tram/lift that goes up the side of the hill to buda

And the zoo is pretty neat too
