I have a 2.4ghz conroe and I'm just wondering: What would be the practical difference between me getting DDR2 5300, or 6400 memory?

At stock speeds, so little you'd never notice it. The slower ram would have tighter timings.
If your gonna oc, the faster ram would allow you to run your memory at 1:1 at a higher fsb.
