    How do i find this hiden file?
    I've enabled "show hidden files" in Win explorer but can't find it when I run a search?

    emessdos.sys (I think the filter killed it :) ) Should be in the root of your C:\ drive.

    It's in the root of C:\ as Ruu said. You'll need to untick "Hide protected operating system files" in Folder Options if you want to view it.

    No, just C:\, not C:\Windows.

    is a executable/program in DOS


    is a text file in windows 95/98

    to see it at the dos prompt type
    EDIT C:\***OS.SYS

    is not needed for nt/2000/xp/2003

    and besides to see it you need to untick
    hide protected operating system files
