Does anyone know how long it takes to get from Lucan (via Newcastle Road) to Dunboyne during the AM peak period, and vice versa in the evening? What is the best route to take? Thanks!

Not long, ten minutes or so. If you were doing the run in reverse it could be a real pain.

Take the road from Lucan that goes out through Laraghcon, out past Barnhill Bridge (near Johnson Mooney & O'Briens) and turn left at the sharp bend in the road just past Hilltown Stud.

    Straight-forward run

    Hi,
Thats the way I would go too, however as stated coming home will be painful.

Of course the time depends where you call Lucan, the 10 mins is from Lucan Village if you are anywhere over the N4 then it will double or treble.

You could go via Liexlip ( Intel turn off ) and down the Dunboyne rd there , but if you do be careful that road is used by millions of HGVs using it as a rat run between the N3 and N4

You could go onto the M4 towards Leixlip/Celbridge, take that exit, go over towards Intel and theres a side road just past Intel, cant remember the name, and it brings you via backroads to Dunboyne. Cant see it taking anymore than 30-40 mins cos you'll be going against traffic each way

You need to turn right at the T junction after that last left don't you?

Rat Run??? Hardly!! Its a dedicated HGV route!!! Unless we are talking about a different direction (i doubt it). Have you never noticed the signs?? HGV route north!!

I assume you are talking about the one almost in maynooth which leads to a round about and then goes around the back of carton house.

I used to use it all the time.

You "might" be better off heading towards clonsilla from Liexlip.. go up the hill over the railway bridge (can be very heavy sometimes) then when you take a right... head on straight and when you get to the end of the road head left all the way to Clonee/Dunboyne

While still on topic, is there any way to get the bus from Lucan to Donboyne? (or in that direction), or do I have to get one from town
