soundproofing a power shower pump

Was wondering if anyone knew the best approach to dampening the sound of a power shower pump. I specially had in mind a heavy duty rubber mat to sit under the unit - and at the same time keep in level

Any advice / pointers appreciated.

If it is a retrofit, might be v hard

Yes the heavy duty rubber mat is a start.

Is it water cooled? if so, you can complete enclose it with sound proofing insulation, as it won't need air to cool it down.

We've made boxes with polystyrene and expanding foam around the pump that work quite well.
We now use the external insulation granitewool boards to make boxes and they work even better.
The water seems to keep most pumps cool.

Under the rubber mat, sit it on something heavy and dense, like a slate tile.
I just got a new pump and although it's more powerful than the old one it is unbelievably quiet compared to it.

Yes its water cooled and yes its a retro fit.
Was wondering where I can get a fairly think rubber mat ?
Also, the suggestion of the external insulation granitewool boards sounds like a good bet ? again, wheres the best place to pick this stuff up ?

So, being a retro fit -
a) Ill be taking great care to place a level tile under the unit with the heavy duty rubber mat
b) carefully placing a box made from granitewool board around the unit

The pump is about 2 years old - Id imagine newer models are available but these items dont come cheap it seems and I think Ill buy 2 Euro ear plugs before springing for a new 'quieter' pump
