Brosnan off - O'Sullivan on - Gooch looses captaincy

I do not think this should be discussed in terms of personalities, I think its a systematic problem based around Kerry's dated and stupid system of having the previous county champions nominate a skipper.

Fact is that one of Kerry's leading, most natural and best goal scorer under pressure has lost his place to a player who has only scored a point since the semi finals. This is unfair on Brosnan, and to a certain extent its unfair on O'Sullivan & O'Connor too.

I do not want to make this about personalities, Jack is unders serious pressure not to cost O'Sullivan his captaincy, its the system Kerry County Board need to move to change this, give the manager the right to choose his skipper.

I dunno Aido, I heard O'Sullivan was flying in training. Certainly doesn't weaken the team to my mind.

Brosnan has always been a great impact player to bring on, so it's a great headache to have.

Certainly tough on Brosnan, but as you say, it's not about personalities, it's about Kerry winning Sam.

Gooch ... well it gives him more freedom to get on with his game and not worry about 'captaincy'.

As a Mayo man, I'd far rather have seen the Status Quo than these changes brought in, it only improves Kerry from what I can see.
Jack O'Connor is a tactical genius, so certainly would trust him if I was a Kerryman.

Forgive me Mayo man for questioning your motives in saying - sure tis all grand :D:D:D:D

I dont doubt that O'Sullivan is playing out of his skin in training, he has most to loose, being so close and so far from the possibility of lifting Sam on all Ireland day must be having a monumental impact on his life at the moment. He is a good footballer too, but then Kerry has lots of them. I do question if he is an exceptional player?

Contrast this to the A team in training who are probably taking it a little easier (there are no medals for spraining an ankle the week before an all ireland final)

However, Brosnan is a natural goal getter and poacher, and no amount of hard work or training can buy that, he was massivly overlooked in the longford game - his goals alone would have earned him Man of the match, had it not been for Star. 4 goals so far, we are going to need goals to beat Mayo.

I would also question what this will do to Moral and support, O'Sullivan was openly boo'd from the stands in the replay agains Cork in Cork. How is this decision going to sit with the rest of the players?

I am not saying this is wholly Jacks decision, Jack has to deal with this system put in place by Kerry County Board. He also has to live in the same community as O'Sullivan (A Dromid man too). I am not blaming Jack but its the hand he has been delt by an out of date rule.

On a side note - is Jack a genius or what, he had a A's vs. B's practice match in cork during the week, taking them back to the scene of the crime, the mans a genuis

This is the last thing I wanted to see.

O'Sullivan will run and run all day at Nallen, who IMO is on his last legs unfortunately. Brosnan, yeah he can score a goal but he can also change a game when introduced. He's also an option in midfield if Harte is doing well.

spot on... nallen has'nt got the pace but sure the man deserves this all-ireland as do so many others and i'm convinced they'll do it....
