Anyone know where I can source some of the black felt like damping material that goes on underside of metal kitchen sink.

Have asked in a few kitchen places and have been told that the sinks normally come in with it attached.

Have seen a similar material in the Radionics catalogue for "acoustic dampening" for industrial apps but comes in minimum size of almost a square metre for €50+

In most metal sinks the metal is quite thin, the damping material is to deaden the sink so there is less of a "drumming" sound or water splashing when filling the sink with water.

I've used a sticky plasticy roll of material on cars for damping vibrations like this

Its cheap and availible in any good motor/boating factors.

Interesting... I thought those things were to help prevent the sink from rapidly expanding when hot water is poured into a cold sink, the sink makes an annoying noise... they are always attached to the sinks when bought in my experience.

On a related issue is it possible to buy the clips that attach the sinks to the worktops??? They are also supplied with new sinks and are hard to get seperately. They can be easily damaged if overtightened.

    Hi Jo

Are they L shaped with a screw from bottom to top with a plastic piece at the top as have about 12 of these which I found under my kicker plate when I moved into our new house. You can have them if you like
