.. on my roof for domestic water heating and very happy so far:)

don't know how I'll fare out over the winter but even on last monday and tuesday, which were overcast, I had 40 degC water.

cost me E5,500 as a retro fit, got E1,800 back in the grant.

    Hi,

How many panels did you get and what from company did you purchase?

    Regards

Congrats on the solar panels! Please let us al know how they get on over the winter as I have some concerns at the minute.

For prospective buyers there is an interesting read on sei: http://www.sei.ie/index.asp?locID=724&docID=-1

    It is documents GIR88.

In their report it showed poor returns suring winter months but I am not convinced in the methodology used in attaining these values. Hence I would be interested in knowing how you get on...

    Best of luck!!

panel size is 6sq/meter, (3 panels of 2sq/m in size), cylinder is 300 litres.
cylinder is stainless steel, factory insulated and my system is now pressurised.
installed by Radon Ireland, Coachford, Cork.

all this hot water might be wasted on a lot of people but my wife and 3 daughters are making good use of it!

    70 degree water again today!

although a neighbour has a system where the panels are on his garage roof and the pipes travel underground to his house and he's pretty unhappy with his results. Says his water gets no more than luke-warm.

my panels are mounted directly above the tank with no more than 10-12 feet between them.

Hi Kvw congrats on the hot water.

Can you post more technical data on your system including the manafacturer and a web liink for the fitting company.

    Thanks

Radon Ireland in Coachford Co.Cork installed my system.

I don't have any technical data on it, all I know is we didn't as yet have to run the oil boiler or emmersion for hot water since the solar was installed.

Tank temp is 48deg/C again today.

The feel-good factor is worth it alone.

That is great information. I have a few questions:

    1. What do you mean by "retro-fit"?
    2. Is your system flat panel or tubes?
    3. Was it extra over the original cost to pressurize the system? Do you find it better for the system to be pressurized?

    Thanks
