    Hi

Going to NY in the New Year and staying in the Wolcott Hotel

    Anyone ever stayed here ?

Read some reviews on Tripadvisor and seem that the higher up you are the better

i.e less bugs and better views

    Cheers

i usually stay at the red roof inn http://www.redroof.com/,its one block behind the empire state building,5 mins walk from macys, near the subway and if you get a high room at the front you wake up to a view of the empire state building in the morning. theres a good few irish boozers within a couple of blocks as well,a good spot all round!:)

i'll be in wednesday alright, the average rate for january is usually $109 per room per night, stayed there 5 times and never had a problem with the place, plus they offer a free continental brekkie which is very rare in nyc.

In any hotel in Manhattan, the higher up the floor the better. I stayed on a relatively quiet street and the traffic noise was pretty bad even though I was on the 9th floor. I guess if the hotel has double glazing it's less of a concern.
