SATA or SATA II?

    Hi,

    I intend adding a slave HD to my PC, it currentlly has an SATA HD, when I went to Elara's site I was faced with a choice, SATA or SATA II, Is the difference on the HD side only or is there a difference with the SATA interface on the motherboard? Basically, can I get either type or would I have to make sure that I get SATA only?

    Either type should work, cables are the same. Whats your motherboard? Some earlier boards have trouble with SATAII due to incorrect SATA implementation.

    That's a good question, I bought the PC off the shelf so I'm not sure, and I don't have the spec to hand. It's a Dell Dimension 8400, P4, bought April 2005.

    Which means it should have an intel board, and therefore be fine with whatever HD you get (unless Dell f8cked it up somehow :))
