Bone Spur

A month ago I had a tooth extracted. I went a week and a half ago to have more dental work done, and I explained to my dentist that I had a bone spur and would he take care of it while my mouth was numb. He filed on it. After the medicine wore off, it still hurt and was just as sharp as before. I went back 4 days later and told him and he said it was healing and that the tissue in that area was too thin for sutures. Today a week later I still have a bone spur and a piece broke off yesterday about the size of a grain of rice. This thing is very painful. Should I be having to go thru this? No exrays have been done on the spur.
