ICE Comms, a wireless carrier with all its busines inside the Pale, has bought Ildana.....they of the funky physics . Now they have to support parts of the west coast as well as some new bits of Meath. Hmmmmm :(
Ice Broadband acquires satellite broadband provider Ildana Broadband
Ice Broadband, the 24x7 wireless broadband carrier, has successfully negotiated the purchase of the assets of Ildana, a leading provider of satellite broadband services operating across the country, for an undisclosed figure. Established in 2001, Ildana had successfully developed a satellite network system to deliver broadband connectivity to rural areas. The company, based in Clonee, County Meath, had established twelve Group Broadband Sites throughout Ireland with 24 more schemes in advanced planning mode. The twelve schemes are located in: Ardcath; Askeaton and Kilmallock Limerick; Ballivor, Meath; Ballyferriter and Ventry, Kerry; Ballybay, Barstown and Boardsmill, Meath; Ballyneety, Limerick; Bandon, Cork; Gweedore, Donegal; Miltown Malbay and Summer Hill, Clare. Ildana had also successfully developed and sold a VPN (Virtual Private Network) solutions system to Cement Roadstone Holdings for use at its quarries located throughout Ireland. This product has also been sold to Westmeath County Council with a good customer pipeline comprising other blue-chip and rural based companies. Yvonne Rooney, managing director of Ice Broadband commented on the acquisition: “Acquiring Ildana is an ideal fit for Ice Broadband and will speed up our nationwide penetration of the Irish marketplace, adding the South West Coast, the Western Seaboard and other prime locations to our network. “Ildana has a good presence across country with schemes currently operating in Kerry, Meath, Donegal, Limerick and Monaghan. We will work with existing and new customers and look to speed up the delivery of service across the countryside.” Ice Broadband continues to invest heavily in technology, applications and people to deliver a world-class product. The company’s ongoing investment in state-of-the-art infrastructure allows it to guarantee a higher quality service over other providers. John Murphy, managing director of Ildana says: “"I'm very excited about this new project which will allow us to commercialise projects we've been working on such as IPTV, Business Continuity, Disaster recovery and dedicated radio for retails multiples. Ice Broadband has a proven track record in wireless broadband and has the facility to roll out what we have developed."

Quite so John, are ye ditching the VSAT ??
