    Hi all,

I am a long time PC games fan but a slight noob when it comes to custom PC's. I'm buying (and hope to build) a new system soon and the following are a list of components that I currently intend on getting. Any advice or recommendations on the compatibility of each of these and their performance would be greatly appreciated. (Just to say that I play all types of games including FPS such as Far Cry and CS, and im looking forward to Crysis).

    PROCESSOR: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.4GHz Socket AM2 1MB, BOXED w/fan

    MOTHERBOARD: Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe, nForce 570 SLI, Socket-AM2, DDR2,2xGbLAN,ATX, PCI-Ex16

    GPU: Sapphire Radeon X1900XT 512MB GDDR3, PCI-Express,ViVo,Dual-DVI-I,Full-Retail

CASE: Gigabyte GZ-FSCA1-AN Silver Aluminium Body (Without PSU)

    PSU: Seasonic S12 Powersupply 500W, 120mm Fan, 4xSATA, ATX/EPS, SLI, 20/24pin

    HDD: Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM

    CPU COOLER: Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu CPU-Cooler Socket A/478/754/939/940

    RAM: Crucial DDR2 PC5300 2048MB CL5 Kit w/two matched DDR2 PC5300 1024MB CL5

Haven't decided on monitor or peripherals yet cos I want to get the core system sorted first.

    Cheers

Yeah thats a pretty nifty system, excellent processor and plenty of ram but I would rather Nvida geforce range to the ati radeon especially if you are going to add a second card , Nvida outperforms Ati in the SLi stakee.

Another consideration would be that the next generation Directx 10 cards will be released in the next while and will far outperform any of the current cards out there, Just check out the flight simulator direct x 9 and 10 comparion and youl get the idea!

If you must have a gamer pc now then go ahead with that, but go for nvidia geforce 7900 gtx and sli them.(serious perfomance). And I would also be inclined to go for a 650 watt power supply. Oh and I presume your buying from Komplett, Dell and alienware are a rip off. Only thing with Komplett is if anything goes wrong and you send it back for maintainence you will be waiting a month + to get it back, been there done that, not good.

Neways good luck with your gaming! Say goodbye to the outside world for a while

    Thanks Ger,

Yes i'll be buying off Komplett. Any idea when DX10 cards are out??
My only concern there is that initially they may have teething problems, and may take a few months to get right, any need for concern do u think?

November at least for NVIDIA and high end only in €450-600 range.

Everthing else looks pretty much fine in your selections, though I'd get one of the newer Zalman 9500 coolers instead if your mobo can handle it.
