Fried MoBo?

Im having serious problems with my PC, My power supply blew (sparks etc) about 3 weeks ago and I ordered a new one (seasonic 500W), when I plugged it in the PC tried to boot and then turned off. Since then when I turn it on the GPU fan spins, the hard drives spin and the mobo lights turn on, but im getting zero output from the PC.
Ive tried different monitors and even swapped out the GPU and reseated the CPU and its still the same, Because its not even beeping or POSTing im guessing that the mobo is fried, but why are the mobo lights working? anyone have any ideas? One thing I did notice was that if i unplugged the power supply to the GPU and booted there was a constant "beep"
Normally I would take this as a sign to upgrade, but im actually leaving to go travelling (2 years) in 4 weeks and cant afford to upgrade, I just need it running so I can sort out my Ipod and get access to photos and movies. Is there anyway of testing the mobo to make sure its the problem, as I dont have the money or time to buy a new mobo and then find out its the CPU?

    Please help.

    The Spec:
    P4 2.4Ghz
    Abit IC-7
1GB Corsair matched pair of PC3200
    BFG 6800GT
    Seasonic 500W

Have you to strip it down to just the ram, gpu, cpu and hard drive and tried booting from there? I think the constant beep normally means a motherboard failure. :(

Yup, ive had it down to just the CPU/RAM/GPU and everything turns on, lights on the mobo, but just no output or beeps. Ive reseated everything and its always the same. That beep I got was when I unplugged the seperate power to the GPU and its just a constant beep, the reason why I said that was because it seems that the mobo seemed to be working to recognise the lack of power to the GPU? its driving me nuts.

Took your advice and bought this Link off Ebay, I had to trump up for one with sata for my main HDD, I really hope its just the mobo thats fried as Im badly stuck for time and cash to get it back up and running again.

Can you try any of your components in another computer, like a friends or one at work? That would tell you pretty quickly if there's anything wrong with them too.

It could very well be any of the components on the motherboard which it needs to rely on in order to boot.

If at all possible try swapping the memory modules about with known working ones; and if there is a closely matched CPU just laying about doing nothing inparticular then you may want to give that a shot too:D

Im just gonna have to wait and see now when my mobo arrives, Ive always thought that a mobo will at least POST or beep and show something on screen even if there is nothing attached (apart from a GPU)

My mobo arrived today and I put it in and booted up into the bios, but the CPU is listed as a 1.20Ghz and it will boot into windows but wont get by the progress bar thingy that shows windows is booting, it just restarts. I reset the CPU to 2.4GHz and it wont even boot up, just a very long beep. I put it back to 1.2ghz and it just keeps booting upto that point and then restarting. Im guessing the cpu is fúcked aswell? is it normal for it to appear as 1.2ghz if its gone?

the problem you face is this, the power supply went. A surge could have taken out any single part in the pc. Or most of them. Since you have replaced the board and it is booting up, try using different ram.
