I'm buying a graphics card for a friend so she can play The Sims 2 decently.

My 9600XT 128mb plays it with most things on on high.

What could she expect from this card?

How would it compare to a ti4800SE?

The 9250 despite the name is not the in the same generation as the 9600 series in fact it is the same level technology as the GeForce 4 TI4800SE but is worse in terms of performance.

So getting a 9250 would actually be a downgrade, depending on how much you are willing to pay a 6600GT for €90 in the clearance section would be an excellent choice.

If thats too pricey get a 9600 for €59.

Pc World have brand new 6600GTs for 79.99 Clearance stock, not only sufficent for Sims 2 but a capable card for modern games in general.

9600XT was good for its time and has held up well, but while its fine for sims 2 its not very future proof. Avoid the 9250 altogether, waste of money considering a few quid extra will get you something twice as good.
