Seems better than 3V - works pretty much the same way as far as i can see and no service charge for using it!

Seems to be a lot of Irish retailers selling them too.. you can perform a search on the website.

    Ukash

Only trouble is they do not have the universal acceptable of a visa card.

Ukash sounds great but im limited to where I can purchase goods, unlike 3V which gives me a visa number so any sites that take Visa allow me to purchase goods. In most cases, I put that number into PayPal and pay via that source. I wouldnt be able to do that via Ukash.

I see 3v have expanded into the UK and Spanish markets. I can't see a better alternative to 3v in the short term.

3v would be good if they had a better website, longer expiration dates on there CVV2, text notification of expiry approaching and automatic redemption (id like to see the fee cheaper then 2.50 tho).

I find www.wirecard.com has some pluses on 3v, set up an account online paycash in at any BOI and you get a virtual mastercard valid 2 years. Can top up as much as you need so you can use your virtual card for big purchases like travel tickets on expedia.co.uk. also you can transfer funds like the paypal system. They are going to provide a real plastic card to which is handy as you can get cash out of an ATM.

Cheers for that c4cat.. setup and registered.

Saw you can send money via bank transfer using a unique IBAN for your virtual account - useful for AIB online transfer.

Hmm, that looks very handy compared to the 3V card. Thanks for the link.

Very handy indeed. Money is in your account 2 days after transfer or same day if you opt for the urgent transfer method. Begone 3v and your high charges!!

I was just looking at the list of charges there. Does it not cost you money to send money to a seller? Do they charge you for topping up? How do you go about topping it up? And really what I want to know is, what are the charges?

As far as i can tell..

It's a €1 every time you put money into your account - but no limit or expiry dates mean happy days. And there's a 50c charge every time you use it.

Can top it up using a credit card (for those who want the idea of a virtual credit card / fraud prevention) or via bank transfer using an IBAN and Swift Number (handy for me with AIB online bank transfer).

With regards sending to seller.. not sure what you mean by that. It costs to send between two Wirecard accounts but set up your Virtual Visa number on Paypal (your Visa Number is the same for 2 years if i recall correctly, but could be wrong) and send via that.

Have you used their service yet? What did you think of it? Can I just go into my bank and ask them to transfer money into the account or what way does it work???

I transferred €80 via an online bank transfer on Monday night.. but it takes 3 days to appear so expecting it to appear either tomorrow or Friday.

If you can't do an online international bank transfer (think AIB are the only bank which offer this, but i could be wrong).. just go into your bank and say you want to carry out an international bank transfer. You'll need your unique IBAN (International Bank Account Number) and Swift Number - they'll be under 'My Account' after you log into Wirecard.. think that's the only real details they need. If they need a name of the account you're sending to, it's your own name.

That's my outlook on it anyways.

It should only take 48 hours. Aib's cutoff time is 16.00, hence why it will take 3 days.

Ah, i see. I did order it late on Monday night so i'd expect it tomorrow as it hasn't appeared yet.

When inputting my IBAN and Bank Swift Number.. i didn't fill in the Bank Address or anything like that as it's not required but saw this when the transfer was marked as complete the next day:
Receiving Bank Name: WIRECARD BANK AG
Receiving Bank Address: 4, BRETONISCHER RING
    Receiving Bank Country: GERMANY
So at least that filled me with confidence that it's going to the right place! :D

Indeed. It's all correct. It is able to find the bank name and address from the IBAN and BIC. Once marked complete the money is in the system and moving towards Germany.

If you were ever in a dire dire hurry you could pay AIB for an urgent transfer €12.70 and the money will be in Wirecard that night provided you get in by 16.00, So unless it's an emergency I wouldn't bother.

    Cheers for the tip Bond.

Intend on having roughly at least €40 - €50 in it at all times so i'll transfer more when i reach around that.
