    Hey,

I'm looking at getting either a MB or an MBP for college, I start in a few weeks. I can get a sweet deal through the University I'm going to.

If i get an MB, i'll get a 19 - 20" monitor for when i have it at my desk in my room to combat the screen size...anyhow...

Has anyone done a lot of coding in XCode? I'll be doing a lot of C/C++ (predominantly C) with a hint of Java.

My previously IDE experiences have been with Visual Studio and Netbeans.

I'd recommend getting a free developer connection account. You can get it here:
    http://developer.apple.com/

It's amazing how much free information, tutorials and more can be found there.

Edit: Once you have a free developer connection account, you can also always download the latest version of XCode for free. Also check out Qt, which is a framework for cross-platform development. You can check it out at http://www.trolltech.com/

Yep you get some great stuff through the developer connection.
And if you buy the Developer connection membership (Eur70) you save even more on a once off purchase of any Mac.

E.G the 17" Macbook Pro Standard package costs

    2829 on the Apple site
    2602 on the Edu site
and 2262 through the development connection

Just something to think about you still save 270 even taking the Developer connection into account.

    e2262? Wow! That's some discount.

I'll actually be buying mine through an English University so i'm hoping it works out even cheaper ;)

The discount to my university in Ireland is 10%, not much more than the general educational discount. The developer price looks better than that.
