Please excuse my ignorance, but what is it? Tell me more about it :)

Its a cross between magnum PI and Buffy. I never bothered with it at the start, as all the reviews seem to massively under sell the show as a kids show. In reality its aimed at teenagers much & darker then anything I've seen like it before.

There's some very compelling characters and the acting seems of a very high standard. Also the actors are believable as teenagers.

Watch the very first epsiode. You'll either be hooked, or think its crap.

It's feckin great. Kristen Bell is teh s3x0rs. Although I'm actually more partial to Tina Majorino (Veronica's mate "Mackie" in it) but meh, that's just my taste.

Great show, what abysmal scheduling (yet again) by RTE, having it on at 2:30 in the afternoon.

I know what you're saying seb about mackie, theres just something about a girl like that, with the blue//red hair. I liked logon character the most due to all the pain he was caryign around, it was hard for you heart not to go out to him. But wrt to the hotest, Yer man duncan, without a doubt.

I suppose RTE put it on at that time for all the teenagers on summer break? I caught One episode of it on rte and decided to get all of it.

sometimes it's blue. Season one seemed better layed out then season 2. There where more definite questions and answers, rather then a mesh in different interlinked mysteries. That said I didn't think the ending of season two was weird.
One question, in one of the last episodes, veronica has a dream and the gay guy asks her why he was even on the bus. Her other dreams pointed to real clues, however this one was never explained.

end of season 2 did seem a bit of a complete 'lets wrap this all up in 30seconds' ;) , though at the very end of the episode the kinda turn around to add something new (due to them being told at the last min there would be a season 3) was odd enough....

as for the dream, well it was just a dream, and it being her unconcious mind was pointing out things she already half knew. whereas at that point she was going through people's lives and i guess one guy just had nothing to do with anything(i.e. she figured out the crash was targeted at a select few, so the why me aspect...) . Or so is my rambling opinion anyway..

    *may be ficticious.

Yup, that is fictious because i will be the one walking down the aisle toward him. :p

    Season 1 spoiler:
Omg, that kiss that Veronica and Logan had on the balcony of the motel, with the Something Happens song in the background - i squealed out loud.

    Season 3 spoiler:
I've read that season 3 will have 3 mystery arcs, running one after another alongside the usual mystery of the week, instead of the one season-long mystery they've had for the first two seasons. Should be interesting.

The acting (and the writing) is just fantastic in VM, i don't understand why RTE don't put it in a 8pm slot on RTE2.

I'm looking at Shay for this as i think he has the DVDs - are they multi region, and are the extras any good?

They're theoretically Region 1 (due to lack of popularity, it hasn't been released on Region 2), but for some reason both seasons played absolutely fine in my DVD player, and from what I've heard on IMDb on any region 2 player. The season 1 set doesn't have much in the way of extras - a few deleted scenes and the full, unaired version of the pilot (not sure which one RTE shows, but the American one was cut down in length and started at the school instead of outside the motel, to the best of my knowledge). The season 2 one has deleted scenes for about half the episodes, including an alternative ending to "My Mother, The Fiend" -
Veronica still goes to visit Meg and finds out she's pregnant, but hears Mrs. Manning approaching and hides in the bathroom. She hears Mrs. Manning saying "It'll all be alright", then the sound of the heart monitor flat-lining, and runs out to find Meg dead with a pillow over her face. As she lifts the pillow off, the nurse comes in and sees her, yells "What did you do?" and runs out.
Not especially good, and totally wouldn't work with the rest of that story arc, but still vaguely interesting. It also has three 8-minute featurettes; A Day On The Set With Veronica Mars, which is basically just showing Kristin Bell's average day (though she's very funny and charming in real life as well), VM: Not Your Average Teen Detective, which is sort of an extended trailer with snippets of interviews with some of the stars and writers, including creator Rob Thomas, and a Gag Reel, which is actually quite funny at points, but not worth buying the DVD for on its own. I'd recommend them if you're having trouble catching up with RTE's dismal scheduling, they're about €50 each, but they're not really worth it if you've already seen every episode.

Topic: Logan Echolls is an evil ****. And not that pretty. *prepares for hail of violence from cuckoo and hils*

I wasn't that wowed by the ending of season 2 -
I could buy Beaver crashing the bus, and his motives, and I enjoyed the reveal and the mystery despite being spoiled for the ending, but the way it was played as him being sociopathic rather than him being scared and desperate didn't work for me.
Still, the show in general rocks, and it's not going to stop me tuning in for season 3, especially since
Mac is rumoured to be one of the new regulars, and that annoying bitch Jackie won't be around any more.

    Oh, and Carnivore,
I figured he was on the bus so he could confront Woody and scare him a bit by threatening to tell everyone what happened - that would also explain why Woody was insistent Gia didn't ride on the bus on the way back, since he'd be worried Peter would tell her everything. Alternatively, he was a huge baseball fan - Veronica already showed in that dream that she didn't know the victims at all and was just stereotyping them, right down to the "gay men don't like sports" thing. Plus, Meg muttering "I have important information!" didn't amount to anything either.

Just a squealed? i think I actually screamed. It may have been exasperated by sleep deprivation though. I think I saw the two complete seasons in about 3-4 days each and both in the same month.

IS Rte still showing it at 2.30? I thought they stopped the last week? I watch it on living (I had previously downloaded the first ten episodes of this season but prefer waiting every week!bit more fun!) Great show!

They stopped showing it on the 1st of september. I emailed RTE to see if they had any plans to show it at another time. They said
Veronica Mars is not on our Schedules at present and we do not have a date for its return at this time. I regret I do not have a more favourable response for you.

Got an email earlier today saying
I wish to advise that the RTÉ Television Schedule has been revised in the light of the feedback from fans of the Veronica Mars series. The series will pick up again on Saturday 7th October on RTÉ 1 at 17.00 and is currently scheduled to continue in this slot.

All is right with the world once more.
