I am thinking of getting a Irish Sky Card but I feel I should I get a seperate Sky Digibox for it.
I already have Sky and I think I will not be able to have 2 cards registered to one digi box. Another way of putting it is when I want to watch RTE I change cards.

    Anyone any idea's on this?

You could cancel your UK $ky sub (send your cancelled card to someone in Ireland or the continent -they can use it for Ch 4/5) subscribe to Sky via your IRISH card (youll have to anyway to get RTE which I presume is the point of the exercise). For Channel 4/5 etc you could always get a freesat card or buy a cheap freeview (DTT) box out of Tesco etc (assuming you have freeview in yourarea)

Yes I could cancel my UK Sky sub. It seems the best way. Just trying to convince my 11 year old daughter we do not need Sky+ will be a major problem.....

I have Freeview. It came preinstalled in my Sony Bravia. I occasionally flick though the channels.
Yes! The Irish Terestrials I am after.

I am curious as to what the relationship is between the viewing card and the Sky box. Correct me if I am wrong but I think as long as the card is activated it should work in any Sky Box but beware the telephone line trap!
What I am curious about is what the following is.

    Services
    4 - System Setup
    5 - System Details
    Serial Number?

Is it the Viewing Card Serial No.?

No. The card number is shown separately, but only if it is inserted.

Premium channels are tied to a box, but not the basic mix packs.

You could have an Irish Sky+ sub. Only BBC1NI and BBC2 NI recording, though BBC3, 4, ITV etc can be viewed via manually added "other channels"

Or an N.I. Sky+ sub is same as mainland UK but adds RTE1, RTE2 and TG4 but not TV3.

I have my 'Irish Card' running a week now. I am getting worried again.
I am in the UK and have Sky+ Multiroom. Sky+ for over a year and Multiroom since March.

I use my Irish Card in the box I personally purchased in March and installed myself. Sky sent me out a card but I cannot recall them asking for my digibox details.
I only have the Irish Card in the digibox when I want to watch something from Ireland. When I don't I remove it put the UK card back in and reconnect the phoneline. The multiroom is only costing £10 exta per month and does not worry me financially.

What worries me is can Sky catch me out? I asked for the basic package from my supplier but have the full movie / sport package on my 'Irish Card'. I cannot change my package for another 3 weeks.

Am I leaving myself open to be caught? Can Sky work out that both cards are using the same box because both are tied to this box for premium channels, which I assume are the movie (301....) and sport channels (401....)

To make it easier for yourself, why don't you drop the Multiroom, and just use the Irish card in the second box? You'll even save a tenner monthly in the process!

But, swapping the cards is OK. As long as you always remember to remove the phoneline when the Irish card is inserted!

    byte!

Remembering things (Phoneline) can be a problem for me!

    Thankyou for the info!

Sky are mostly only interested in "catching" things that lose revenue. While they won't sell to Spain or more discracefully Gibralter, I have never heard of anyone having card disabled.

But they WILL get upset about any Multiroom issues as that is about revenue.

Cancel the multiroom. You don't need it now.
