ok just got a VW Golf MK4
The audio system is not the best but for now it'll do..
Till I get the new system sorted..

Now, I've been looking around few sites for the components..
But I don't exactly know how to work out the calculation for the amps..
I'm just a bit confused about the ohm/watt difference..

Maybe if anyone can offer some help..
    Any explanation will be appreciated..

Edited: Planning to get 2 speakers, a sub (boxed), and a 4 channel amp

I was told that it'll be better if I get a seperate amp for the sub, so that if I need to expand to 4 speaker later, it's easier

Hey, I need to figure out the whole car audio shin-dig too. A handy link i found was this Car Audio FAQs. It might have what you're looking for.

what car you got? which system are you planning to get??

I think it'll be hard for me to change the player on the golf though..
Bcoz the panel is not the normal ones..
It's the equivalent of two normal car audio that sells in the shop..
So it's time to hunt for panelling too i suppose..

This will certainly burn a hole in my pocket slowly :D

Haven't decided on either account-I'm yet to get my first car, but a (semi) decent stereo and speaker setup is top on the list of priorities. A new panel shouldn't be expensive.
I'll be starting simple, a new quality headunit and a few speakers for the moment. Than i'll wander into sub territory. Need the car first!

ahhh.. I thought you already got one..

What do you think of pioneer speakers??
    Not sure about amps yet..
As for sub, I'm looking at pioneer also..

I seem to have a thing for full set from the same company..
    A bit bias I suppose..

I kinda like sony's xplode range..
But I've been told that they're useless
