Iron in water

have a new well and test shows slightly high reading of Iron - taste is strong and toliets have red deposits in cistern. I've been told to try a filter first off but as I understand filter will only remove oxidised iron ie the deposits?

The problem I have is that we store water from our well in a reserve tank in the garage. Drinking water is branched off before this so I would need two filters as the iron is probably oxidised in the tank also.

I know there are more expensive solutions out there that do remove the iron also - any experience of these.
