The full trailer is out for Casino Royal.

    http://movies.aol.com/casino-royale-james-bond/exclusive-video-features

..looks feckin' good if you ask me! Looking forward to this, and I haven't done that for a Bond film in a very long time.

If the trailer is a good indication for the style of the film then it definitely doesn't look as plastic as the Brosnan entrys became. Which is a Good Thing.

And Danial Craig more than looks the part, if you ask me.

    November 17th release.

James bond is suave and has sophistication.

I didn’t see any of that in the new trailer.

It's a bit Bourne, James Bourne but the franchise needed a kickstart. The last Bond film was almost a parody.

It looks decent enough from the trailer. I went off bond films after the latest few brosnan efforts. Hopefully this one will restore my faith in the franchise.

View to a Kill, Living Daylights, Goldeneye are all great films, i think.

So errr, whats the story with this one? Bond has to bring down arch-baddie by beating him at, eh, poker

    Super :/

More to the point, I think, this is his first '00' mission.

The story in the trailer looks strong so that should carry Daniel Craig a long way, but’’ it seams like bond falls in love again? And we all know what happened to George Lazenby’s career as bond after Her Majesty's Secret Service. the love story thing just didn’t work well in the public’s eye.
‘’this could be dayjavoo all over again.

Hmmm...nothing to add here except I don't like Daniel Craig, or more accurately, I don't like the idea of Daniel Craig playing James Bond. The trailer looks ok as an explosive action film but I think it's really lacking that Bond feel, much in the same way that turkey Tomorrow Never Dies and to a lesser extent Die Another Day did.

Goldeneye, now that was a Bond film from start to finish! Along with The Living Daylights, one of my favourites.

    hi all,

Not mad about Daniel Craig as Bond, but the trailer looks good.
the imdb has him listed as doing another one

This looks good, proper spy stuff, no invisible cars or atomic watches. I'd prefer to watch this because of those things, not in spite.

I think y'all are spot on about the Bourne similarities (hey that sounds like the title of a future Jason Bourne novel/film 'The Bourne Similarities'), but it looks to me that Batman Begins is as much as an influence on this film. As in it's a re-start of a franchise that had become bloated and moribund, an origin story which focuses on the main character in in a much more in-depth way than previously seen (on screen anyway), played by an actor more noted for his thespian skills than his good looks. Also less emphasis on gadgets and over-the-top stunts unrelated to the plot.
Of course I haven't seen Casino Royale yet, though from the trailer and what i've heard about it, this is the impression i'm getting of what direction they're taking it.
And this is what Bond fans seem to be over-looking when they criticise Daniel Craig, saying he looks too much like a pissed-off bouncer than the 'cool' James Bond. This is Bond's first outing - he's given a mission that requires him to go to a casino to defeat a terrorist at a card game. As a violent man only just out of the military, he's unhappy at being assigned to a seemingly routine mission with little chance of any action. As the story progresses I'm guessing that this uncouth, former navy grunt gets a taste for the expensive living he samples on the mission and so decides this is the life for him.
As regards the love story, I'm guessing (again) that Bond's romance with whichever character he falls for ends tragically -possibly the villains take advantage of this development and he nearly dies because of it. Henceforth Bond regards getting too close to a woman as a weakness his enemies can exploit, therefore deciding that the only relationships with women he will have in the future will purely be on a physical basis.
Ta-da!! By the end of the film we've got the suave, sophisticated, womanising, alcoholic, gambling-addicted, emotionally dead James Bond we all know and love!
Sounds like an interesting character arc to me, something a serious actor like Daniel Craig would love to get his teeth into. So give the guy a chance people!
Let me say again however that I've never read the book of Casino Royale, i'm only judging it by the various teasers and the trailer. I could be 100% wrong about it. Hope not though.

P.S. I'm so happy i got to use the word 'moribund' in a post!

Feeling good about this one myself.

If this one shifted toward the seriousness of the Bourne pics, that'd be an improvement, but it can't really go too far or else it'd be criticsed for losing the 'comic' quality of Bond himself.
I just can't take to Craig in the role...his face is...eh....funny-looking. In an any case, it'll never beat the 1967 version (snigger).

He's down for two more. Sadly, I think that this film is a two parter. The next film is a direct continuation, apparently.

But I kind of like Craig. He was great in Layer Cake and that character was kind of similar (I think) to what is being pulled off in this one. I'm looking forward to it :)

above all else Bond is a cold blooded ruthless killer who does what it takes to get the job done, too many peoples ideas of bond these days is coloured by pierce brosnan version or roger moores parody of bond, people should read the books first before declaring what bond is, with their only knowledge based on the movies.

I like Daniel Craig...he was spot-on as the villainous priest in Elizabeth, but his part in Munich also showed that he could handle more than the one-dimensional baddie. There's just something odd about his being cast as Bond, though; you can think of several other actors that seem to be better suited (Stuart Townsend springs to mind...not too well known that he brings a lot of baggage with him, yet classically handsome and having a dark as well as a comic side). Anyway, may change my mind when I see Casino Royale.

What I don't get is that they declined Eric Bana because he "wasn't handsome enough" but then go and pick Daniel Craig? I mean nothing overly wrong with Daniel Craig but from all the female opinions I've heard he's alot worse looking then Eric Bana and definately not what you'd consider a handsome gentleman..

Not that, at the same time, I think Eric Bana would make a good bond because I don't really think he looks the part, but just wondering.

Also, I think Clive Owen would have been the perfect bond....

If Bill Murray was bond it be a win win situation.

Does anybody know why the original Casino Royal is never included with the other bond films. they always start with Dr. No.

The 'Bond Franchise' started with Dr. No.

The original Casino Royal has little to do with the other films, it was just (loosely) based around the same source material.

Why can't they have a "normal looking" baddie for once - and a competant one?

The rights to that film went elsewhere, thats why UA started with Dr. No.

If you read the bond books, you'll find that bond in the books is a clueless, charisma-free idiot bound up in the most ridiculous plots from a time when Britain was something other than a pawn of the American Empire. The bond of the books is a total and utter moron who couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag and has all the strategic vision of a cornflake.

Have to say I really had my doubts about Daniel Craig as the new Bond (would have much preferred Clive Owen or especially Hugh Jackman) but judging by the feedback from the media in general and after seeing the trailer, I'm really looking forward to this.

Does anybody know of any cinemas in Dublin that will be showing advance screenings on Thursday 16th?? If not, I'll be going to see it on Saturday 18th and I'll post my comments on here.
