Single room speaker cables

I've posted a similar query on the home entertainment board but
maybe folks who have been through the mill with house builds here
may be able to answer this query for me ....

The electrician who is about to chase walls for 1rst electrical fix
will facilitate me by distributing speaker wire pairs across at least
4 wall locations in our living room. If I ask nicely he may even allow
for a pair of speaker locations in both kitchen and dining room.
I've a bunch of hifi separates including a nice set of 601/602
(I can't remember just now) B&W speakers which I purchased
5-6 yrs ago with a Denon hifi amp, Arcam CD player, Denon tuner.
When I purchased the B&W speakers the rep recommended some
KEF high definition speaker cable which is really bulky (10mm diameter
or more.. heavy rubber sheathing and lots of nylon braiding inside).
Really the more I read I figure I'd get away with a more modest
speaker wire and the KEF gear is definitely way too cumbersome
    for my liking.

Can anyone recommend more than adequate speaker wire suitable
for electrician to hide behind walls and bring to several points
    around the room ?

Is this about the right spec ?
