Vaccination Jabs + Alcohol?

I'm gettin me jabs for Thailand and Cambodia tomorrow morning but had made plans to go the pub to watch the Liverpool derby and Man U v Spurs and then a night on the tear.

Am I right in saying that I shouldn't take alcohol after being jabbed with 4 or 5 vaccines? Would there be any danger of ruining the vaccine and therefore not being immunised?

Obviously going drinking isn't a do or die affair but just thought I'd ask...

Ask when getting the jabs, you'll be told then.

    Balls

Everyone seems to be going to Dr. Ekky. I've seen his name all over these travel forums.

Cool so. A week off work and confined to soft drinks. Life has a real good way of kicking you in the spuds sometimes.

Well this morning I had a Typhoid, Tick Born encyphilitis and a Yellow Fever jab and I am half way through a bottle of wine and feeling fine.

hmm - i think the idea of no drinkage isn't because it makes you feel unwell but because it negates the effect of the vaccine.

That may turn out to be one expensive bottle of wine...

    But hey, I'm no doctor..

well I have spent about three of the last seven years working overseas, and in locations far from holiday resorts and the beaten track, so i think i know what works for me doctor. But thanks for your concern.

I was told not to drink for 2 days, but I drank on the 2nd day, just had 3 or 4 pints and i was grand.

Id say your not ment to drink cos the side effects can be nasea, dizziness etc
How alcohol would effect the vaccine which is delieverd intramuscularly is beyond me and im sure if your not ment to drink as it destroys the vaccine the doctor would really emphasize the importance of not taking any alcohol.

    But im not a doc.

I stand corrected and apologise muletide.

Had me jabs - they say the only reason you shouldn't drink is because it would put your immune system under pressure as it fights the vaccines and therefore would leave you more open to common colds/flu etc. Also apparently gives you an extra kick in your hangover.

    I abstained anyways....
