I have noticed something in live cash games that is really starting to annoy me. Poker snobbery. I mean i have noticed on more than one ocasion when a supposed good poker player gets a bad beat that he ends up giving out about f@#c#ng internet players, should not have been in the hand after the flop etc. Surely if someone sits down with their money rightly or wrongly he/she can play whatever cards they like and not have to be subject to the poker snobs with the fancy tricks with the chips.

Anyone in agreement? afterall we all started somewhere. we were not born poker gods.

Yep...each club has them. The more experienced you get the more you spot them and ignore them. Too many people give up poker cause of these people.

Of course you get this, and sometimes from people that can make the worst plays themselves at times too. I keep my poker snobbery to myself apart from the very occasional blood boiled over induced comment.

Mostly people should and are glad to see less experienced or less good players at their table, that is how I look at it, even if they are sucking out left right and centre. It can be very frustrating though, but people should learn to keep their cool.

Not familiar with the term pokersnobbery, think "fish" is the more commonly used term. Anyone giving out about bad calls is a fish tbh

We have a saying at our club in London..'Don't scare the fish'.
I firmly believe it is more profitable to keep these players at the table..

indeed, please don't scare the fish. Let them play their rags and punish when appropriate, it's so much more fun.

and it's not just giving out about bad beats - it's the hand-by-hand commentary and analysis - Jesse May would roll over in his....eh....bed.

I have been playing poker alot longer than you guys and am probably a much better player than any of you mainly because of experience but also because I know the game. I have never seen any snobbery in the card rooms. Maybe put in some decent time at the game newbies.

Presume your joking. I've seen exp players display poker snobbery in many card rooms, Fitz, SE, Jackpot. If I hear one more "pro" mutter FFS after losing to a questionable call I'm gonna add to his misery and tell him I'm a student playing my first live game.

poker snobs are people who are sick of the luck element in poker.

best way to handle them is after they've had a little rant say something like "what can i say, k4 is my lucky hand!". You may get ridiculed even more here or you may get a few dont-scare-the-fish smiles around the table... but keep steady, this puts you in a prime position to lash them out of it (also, when a k or 4 comes up you might be able to play with a bit).

the thing is, no one like to be made a fool of - but specially poker snobs, who somehow thing that luck is absolutely minimal in texas holdem.

ps also, wouldn't a good player assess their opponents (possibly at the cost of a hand or two) so they could decide which way(s) to play them?
