Rights of Tenants?

Does anyone know the rights of tenants in relation to this type of situation: a drunk or vandal throws a bottle through the window of my rented apartment. The landlord says that I must pay to replace the window pane as I am the tenant. Is he right? My position is that I should only pay for damage that I cause, and not damage caused in these circumstances. Any helpful advice?

Not a sol myself but common sense says no!! If lightning strikes the house (sorry only eg I could think of!!)... should you have to pay??

The landlord should pay as long as it wasn't caused by you.

    From threshold:

"The landlord is obliged to carry out repairs except where damage beyond normal wear and tear has been caused by the tenant. "

With whom does the burden of proof lie?
