Dunno if this is possible but I really need to stop a person ringing me, so I was wondering if it is possible to ask my mobile company (o2) to block a number. I have a speakeasy phone (prepay)
    Cheers

Most phones have the option of "closed user group". Never used it but i assume this is only a function to limit incoming calls to people in your phone book, which is pretty bollix in fairness. Dunno why they cant have the block function id imagine twould be easy to put in

Just use the call barring feature on your phone.

My phone (motorola v220) will only block all incoming calls or all calls while roaming. Waiting on a reply from O2. Will keep you posted

you' can't block a number through your handset.

if you are getting nuisance calls, you will need to keep all your texts on your phone and calls. bring to garda station. they will sign a statement from you saying that these are nuisance calls. you then give that signed garda statement to O2 and i believe they will then take steps to block the number.

O2 will suggest you chnage your number. they will do it for free for you if you tell them it's nuisance calls the first time. if you continue to get nuisance calls and wish to chnage ur number again, then your charged 40 odd euro.

i suggest telling the person who is annoying you that you are contacting the gardai if they continue to harrass you. that might stop them.

40 euro? just buy a sim pack for a tenner. that's on speakeasy of course.

there's no point going to the gardai. i went to gardai about two years ago and i'm still regularly getting called on my old number.

The Irish networks don't offer such a service but some symbian handsets do have a software package you can download for this purpose.

The Samsung D600 has a blacklist for SMS but not for calls.

I used to have a Symbian application called Call Control that allowed you to make a block and allowed list of phone numbers also allowed you to block private number calls.

I would suggest you make a log of the calls you receive if they continue.
