Heineken - Dutch vs Irish

I recently noticed that canned Heineken tastes like sh1t compared to a few months ago.

Hey presto, it's mostly imported now and I can't find anywhere in Limerick that now stocks the 4.3% Irish stuff rather than the 5% Dutch which to me tastes crap. I'm thinking of changing beers again because of it or maybe it's just time I did anyway.

When I asked about the switch at the local O-L the owner told me there's more margin in the Dutch stuff cos they can get bigger shipments!!!

    Anyone else noticed this change

For a long time I was a dedicated Heineken drinker (in pubs) but always hated it from a can. Nowadays I've broadened my horizons a bit. Maybe try some different lagers. You may find a good substitute at a cheaper price.

I always felt the export bottles tasted a lot better, though the beer is terrible in general. I'm with noby, there are any number of better lagers available in off licences, and the pubs are starting to get their act together also with a number of top pilsners on tap. I always noticed a sweaty smell of bottled Heineken that I can't account for. I thought it could be skunking due to the beer being light struck, but I'm not sure if it's the same thing.

I think it tastes nicer in Amsterdam, than in Dublin.
But it might just be my imagination, or there are more, nicer beers here.
